My students are in Spanish I and II classes. They come from many different backgrounds ranging from African-American to Hispanic, from poor to wealthy, but when it comes to my class, all the students are the same. They want to learn Spanish, some to improve their skills, others to learn a new language and still others, to learn about Spanish culture. Whatever the reason, it is all the same to me. I just want them to enjoy learning especially if it involves Spanish. Learning a new language is not an easy task, it takes time and effort, but it also takes multiple resources. Most of my students have been exposed to Spanish on the street, but never been exposed to the formal, proper language. We do not have many books to read with Spanish, in our school library. I hope that with this book, I will be able to open their minds to not only reading Spanish, but to the culture of a Spanish-speaking countries and give them the opportunity to understand there is more out there in this world.
My student will use this book, La Novia Spanish 1, to be inspired to read more and learn more about how important heritage and sense of belonging is for people. I hope that by reading this book and others, they will create a passion for reading as well to discover people from different background and learn who they are. Reading will talk to them and make them think who they are and what they have done. Reading is one of the most important keys to open a child mind to other things. They want to learn, they want to do better but they do not know how. I hope that with this book, I will be the instrument that opens their eyes to reading and to the world. This experience in time will make a big change to their life. They will also learn about culture, proper grammar and some of them will learn how to read too. They will learn new words that will expand their vocabulary make them more knowledge. They also can write about what they read using their new words. What else can be say about reading; reading is the key to imagination and imagination is the key to life. We need a class set of this book!
