My students are eager to learn and willing to try, but they have the odds stacked against them to succeed. Your generous support can help my student students be successful.
I am a fourth-grade teacher in a low-income urban area in New Jersey and more than 90% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My students cannot afford to purchase the necessary supplies for the classroom. I have general education students as well as students learning the English Language in my classroom.
Our school is in an urban area. Many of my students are reading at 2-3 grade level below 4th grade. Despite these challenges, the climate of our school is nurturing and sets high expectations for all students.
My students are becoming great mathematicians. We are a fourth grade class in an urban area that is economically challenged. This year, I did not receive any classroom supplies for my students. Despite that challenge, I come to school each day with the desire to help my students be the best they can be. I enjoy reading to my students throughout the day. I would love to have literature to read during math. You can be a part of my students' success.
Math is a challenging subject for some students.
Some topics are abstract and difficult for them to understand. I have attended two math workshops in the past that tie literature in with math. I would really love to expand our reading in math center in our classroom. I am asking for forty-two titles including The Great Graph Contest, Shape Up!: Fun With Triangles and Other Polygons, and Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday. I discovered that when students are able to read and complete hands-on-learning about a topic in math, they are much more successful. My students really enjoy reading and with your help, they can enjoy math. The smiles that are on my students' faces after they grasp a concept is priceless.
