Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are second graders who are in a bilingual class. They speak Spanish and English and are reading in both languages so that they can strengthen both their first language and their second language. Most of my students have heritage from Mexico and have family in the United States and Mexico.
They are very curious about the world and they love to read.
They love reading both nonfiction and fiction books and always have questions about the world around them.
My Project
My students will be able to read and connect with these books because this author Kim Norman is coming to visit our school! My second graders will be so enthusiastic about reading books written by Kim Norman and be able to make connections with her stories after they meet her.
My students will love reading Kim Norman books and they will be responding to them through comprehension activities and connecting to the books after meeting the real live author!
I am so excited for my students to have these books in their hands! This will be so much fun!
