Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are incredible! I have 24, motivated English Language learners, eager to learn.
My students are very creative, fun-loving, and enthusiastic learners.
We are a Title I School. They come from low-income households and a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Most of them live in the projects and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community. All of my students participate in the free lunch program.
My Project
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich virtual classroom that I strive to create for my kindergarteners when we hold live Zoom sessions. They need to feel included in our virtual classroom. These diversity books will allow me to communicate with my students by showing them characters that look like them! By spotlighting myself, on zoom, the students will be able to see the books on the book easel. Communicating virtually has become critical and important to my kindergarteners social and emotional well being!
My kindergarteners deserve the best virtual education you can possibly provide!
While my students were fortunate enough to be able to check out a Chromebook through our district, it is only one of the missing pieces. They are also missing the in-person support of myself and their peers during these difficult times.
