Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a class of motivated third-grade students. My class is an inclusion setting with many diverse learning needs. It is important that my students become diverse readers so they can understand the world around them. My students enjoy reading about current events and other news related articles. They enjoy writing and discussing what they have read.

I teach in a high poverty area.

The neighboring school districts are wealthy. It can be a challenge to fund learning materials.

My Project

Scholastic News Magazine provides students with an opportunity to read about current events in a kid-friendly manner. Each magazine provides them with interactive activities so they can increase their reading and writing skills.

It also helps students to continue their love of learning.

Not only do my students enjoy reading current events, but they also enjoy discussing it. Scholastic News Magazine helps my students with their critical thinking skills. As their educator, I strongly feel it is important for my students to know the world around them so they can make good choices. This will help them become good citizens of the world.
