A typical day in Environmental Science is fast paced to say the least. I have students sharing books to help each other, watching videos to gain as much knowledge as they can, and then everyone is trying to learning about our universe by looking at pictures, just plain old pictures.
My class is a diverse group of young adults.
Our school is a high poverty school and my goal by the end of the year is to provide these students with the needed education they desire. My biggest challenge is getting the materials they need to learn in this class. These students are freshmen for the most part, so they are so eager to learn and I am eager to provide them with every opportunity that I can. These students would do anything to learn more about the environment and the universe, yet all I can provide them are videos and pictures.
My Project
These supplies will help my students master the concepts of sea floor activity and spreading, the Universe and stars, and the use of solar energy and how this is the future for our world. Pictures are not the way to learn about the universe and the ocean. We all know that solar power and energy is one way to help promote an safe and healthy planet and I want to give my students the ability to learn how to use solar energy and why it is so important to our future.
Donations to this project can only increase the students learning and mastering the objectives.
Sparking an interest in science that they will care with them for a life time is the ultimate goal. These resources for this project not only will touch students' lives this year, but for years to come, as they can be used for many years and shared between the different classes. So the learning is unlimited!!!
