Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My pre-kindergarten students are full of wonder, love to learn, and try very hard to please me. Every day they give all they have to learn and be taught. There are 20 of them and keep me on my toes!
Many come from low income families who work the local farms and fields.
There are students who know only a bit of English but have tried hard to keep up with their English speaking peers.
These students are so much fun!
My Project
Play is an important part in learning social acceptance. With puppets children learn to use their imaginations, costumes provide experiences in drama and the arts. Pretend play using baby dolls and stuffed animals gives children ideas of what they may want to be when they grow up. Children learn through many different experiences, play is the most important because it allows them to choose the where, how, and why they are playing. Using letters in different ways provides children access to many tactile activities to learn letters. Using letters to create their names and learn that individual letters can create words is a precursor to reading.
