My students are preschoolers ages 3-5 in a autism specific classroom. In our room we learn to communicate, socialize, and play. We are from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.
We spend our days expanding our experiences of the world to learn how to interact with each other and our environment.
This exploration is fostered through targeted individualized goals, sensory strategies to keep our bodies ready to learn, fun engaging activities, and loving dedicated assistants. Please help us continue to grow and learn!
My Project
With your support, we can expand the dramatic play opportunities for the children in my classroom. Children on the autism spectrum often find challenges in developing their play skills and interactions with peers. With two sets each of Veterinarian and Chef costumes children will be able to enjoy learning to play with a friend. The realistic props in the Classroom Vet Center will provide the tools needed to learn dramatic play sequences.
By adding more dramatic play costumes and accessories, the children in my classroom will have the opportunity to access the fun of pretend play!
The Help-Yourself Dress-Up Center will invite children to chose attractively displayed costumes. Baskets will keep the props organized and grouped together. Through access to an updated dramatic play area students will be engaged in exploring daily life skills, interactions with peers, and pretend play in a fun, engaging and motivating way.
