Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten class is filled with 24 bright-eyed cuties wanting to learn all that they can about anything and everything!
My kids would love to learn how to play a variety of board games and card games.
Kids can learn a plethora of important social skills and life lessons when playing any game together with friends.
Working at a low-income school, my kids don’t have access to a lot of resources. I know that they would be very appreciative to have such a variety of new games to learn and play!
My Project
The implementation of a variety of board games and card games will help teach sportsmanship, patience, taking turns, teamwork, communication, and social skills. The game "Jenga" will teach the kids about having patience while waiting for their turn while working cooperatively in hopes to keep the blocks from falling.
Playing board games and card games will also help my kids practice math, language arts, and fine motor skills!
For example, "Guess Who" is a great way to practice descriptive words. "Chutes and Ladders" is great for reading a die and counting spaces. "Hi Ho Cherry-O" helps improve fine motor as the kids have to gather tiny cherries from the barrel and place it on the tree board.
Who doesn't love playing games and having fun? I know that all of my kids will truly value having the opportunity to play with their friends while learning at the same time. They can even use their new knowledge of how to play games and teach their families at home!
