Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a departmentalized reading and language arts teacher, I am so lucky that my classroom can be shared with so many students throughout the day! My students come from all types of backgrounds and experiences, ranging from middle class backgrounds to those who are economically disadvantaged. Our school is not considered Title I, but we are about 58% economically disadvantaged.

However, while many of my students are economically disadvantaged, their outstanding creativity and passion for knowledge is their advantage!

By creating a space where collaboration and teamwork is encouraged, my students' third grade year will build the foundation for their love of learning.

My Project

I am continuously trying to add pieces to our classroom to make it feel more like a home.

We are a family and I want our classroom to feel like a comfortable place to learn and a safe space to grow and take risks.

I would like to add this coffee table in our classroom to have more flexible seats and choices for our students. The giant kerplunk game is going to be used as a daily team building activity, where we work together to pull out a stick. When we make the balls drop the class will earn a prize. This activity will continue to support our goal of always working as a team.
