My students need rock cycle board games to learn about the 3 types of rocks and the rock cycle. This will be a fun way for my students to learn rock cycle concepts!
Do you remember school being fun? How exciting would it be for students to be creative? How can students learn service?
My school is in a high poverty area.
Thirty percent of my students come from countries other than the United States. Many of these students are refugees from the countries of Burma and Iraq. Many of my students have missed out on opportunities to serve others or be creative. My students are in seventh grade, and are in need of activities to stimulate their thinking and make school relevant to them. Students take responsibility for their own learning and most importantly want to learn when they are engaged. Students are more inclined to get excited about learning when they are given the opportunity to be creative with projects or do activities.
Science can be difficult and bringing in visuals/projects and hands on activities will help support the diverse needs in my classroom, while making the instruction relevant to each student. Science concepts can be difficult, but with activities and visual support, learning can be fun and easy. My students need board games for activities and service learning projects to learn about the rock cycle.
My Project
Today's students are not provided enough time to learn while playing. Many students also do not have the means at home to play games. Why not blend the two together and let them play in class. These rock cycle board games will be a fun way for my students to learn about the rock cycle concepts all while playing a board game with other students. Not only will this be fun, the board games are a great visual tool. These games will be very helpful for my English learners and my students with special needs in a way that does not feel like they are being singled out.
