Let's Play Games And Learn English!!

It would be great for my ESL students to have 11 different games to play so that they can learn to speak English while having fun in a non-threatening comfortable environment.

Could you imagine being in a school in a foreign country and not understanding the language being spoken???? Well, I teach young ESL elementary students, grades K and l and they face this challenge daily. It is very difficult and can be frustrating for them. I teach in a K-5 public school with a large amount of English language learners from diverse countries. Most of these children do not have these resources at home.

I see how much easier it can be for students to learn English when they are playing in a stress free environment. Playing is very natural for children and it is just so heartwarming to see them interact with each other while learning. Just imagine how hard and frustrating a day in the life of these children can be. I would like to see them enjoying themselves while they are learning and having games for them to play is the way I can accomplish this.

We are in desperate need of some educational games that would enhance and speed up the acquisition of language for my ESL students. What I plan to do is to use these games during the last half hour of the ESL afterschool program. The children's days are full of hard work, trying to absorb the new language around them and meeting the challenges of learning to read and write. I would like to give them the opportunity to look forward to the very end of the day during the afterschool program to play these educational games in a stress free environment. Games are an excellent vehicle for getting children to talk to each other, which is crucial in learning a new language.

You will make it possible for my students to raise their self esteem and confidence level, which is often lacking in ELLs.
