I currently teach thirty energetic, eager-to-learn second graders at an inner-city school located in Illinois. My students come from a variety of cultures, across a wide range of income levels located within the school's neighborhood and from other neighborhoods across the city.
Like most second graders, my students are extremely curious and love to figure out the world around them through open-ended exploration of materials, topics, ideas, and their surroundings.
I am constantly amazed by the thoughts they have, the way they express themselves, how they work to understand and communicate their experiences with one another.
My students are extremely lucky to have an awesome playground that they can play in every day, weather permitting. I would love to also provide them with an assortment of balls and active play objects to give them more opportunities to move during this important time of their day.
For this project, I am requesting kickballs, a soccer ball, a football, bean bags, frisbees, skip-N-jumps, and a bag big enough to hold and transport it all!
Maintaining an active lifestyle is so important and giving kids the opportunity for movement helps them focus during academic times. It also helps them work on their motor skills, coordination, balance and social skills too. Thank you in advance for helping my kiddos get up and move!
