This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My fifth grade intellectually gifted students come to my classroom ready to hit the ground running. They cannot wait to see what lessons I have prepared for them each class period. Their eagerness to learn is absolutely exhilarating.
They are energetic, creative, and very social people.
Based on their willingness to attempt any challenge, excitement after successes, and ability to recover quickly from failures, they are destined for great things in the future.
I truly believe in my students and look for opportunities to support them in every way I possibly can and to provide opportunities within my classroom that will continue to expand their imaginations, their strengths, and their weaknesses in order to give them every possible chance of becoming the wonderful leaders of tomorrow I know they can be.
My Project
My Gifted Education students currently participate in First LEGO League. Part of their program requires them to build and code their own robot. Four classes share one iPad for this process. This makes it very difficult to keep the iPad charged between classes.
Having a Microsoft Surface tablet would allow us to get past the surface of our coding projects.
It would allow us to switch back and forth between classes and allow our other device to fully charge for our classes.
Having another device to control our robotics would also allow us to get used to more than one type of technology/device which would help students add more technology to their repertoire.
