My Students

Our S.T.E.A.M. Lab serves approximately 325 students ranging from 2nd to 4th Graders. Our students are inventive, creative, motivated and inspired. The chance to break away from traditional classroom settings to become true makers is helping to create a new generation of people not afraid to problem solve and make for themselves and the benefit of others. Many of our students are considered low income (37%), and special needs, (14%). This program would afford opportunity to all to reach new potential.

My Project

Students will utilize Makey Makey control boards to turn everyday items such as bananas, cardboard instruments, even themselves, into electronic musical instruments! In our S.T.E.A.M. lab we are creating crafted musical instruments out of cardboard and craft supplies! Students would LOVE to take this a step further and electrify these instruments adding electronic programmed sounds to anything!

We will also explore coding with Ozobots utilizing color patterns to program these little robots to navigate mazes and perform tasks!

Ozobots use color pattern recognition to code behavior patterns, creating a hands on multi-sensory coding project for anyone! Our S.T.E.A.M. lab will benefit from the addition of these little guys allowing every child a chance to think logically and creatively!
