Help me give my students the opportunity to use functional communication and math skills during teletherapy sessions as well as access to adapted materials through TeachersPayTeachers to help meet their speech and language needs.
I am a speech language-pathologist working in a special needs public school. My students are primarily middle school aged who have a wide range of abilities due to their diagnosis of autism. Some are verbal, some are non-verbal and require either pictures and/or augmentative alternate communication (AAC) devices to use as their voice. My students learn best using a multi-sensory approach using touch, visuals, and sound.
My students are all diagnosed with autism and have complex needs due to delays in communication and social skills.
My students love to participate in various community activities such as our weekly trip to the grocery store or walks around the neighborhood.
My Project
This Osmo pizza game set will target functional math and communication skills which are important for my middle-school students who would take a weekly trip to the grocery store during a typical school year. The Osmo also functions as a document camera so I can present my students who are learning from home with games and toys they would usually interact with in person.
A TeachersPayTeachers gift card will allow me to purchase materials created by educators in order to help target the goals of my students whether they are participating in virtual or blended learning.
