Mrs. Zietz from Upper Marlboro MD is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students a chance to express themselves artistically in the classroom with journals to be used throughout the year to show their growth and games to help encourage their sight words and spelling.

Teaching in a low-income school county, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My goal is to find creative ways as well, to keep the learning engaging for them. I want the students to feel comfortable and become their own authors by providing a journal for them to use.
My students are creative, driven and imaginative.
They love hands-on learning and being imaginative with the limited amount of resources we have.
A lot of my students are raised in single family homes, just moved to the country or can't afford the basic school needs. This has prevented them from building the structural knowledge they would need to excel and feel confident while learning. Some can't afford to express their creativity through any form of expression. With everything going on in the world, I am hoping I can provide some of their school needs to them.
My classroom is a safe and fun place for the students to go. Most of the materials requested will allow my students to learn and show off their creative skills. I am only helping them realize their full potential.
School is a place where the students are ready to come and learn. Teaching in first grade is such an important grade! This is where the students begin to communicate within writing and my goal is to make them fantastic writers. Take those words and put them in a journal! Families in my class don't have the funds for school supplies and would appreciate any help to become the authors they really are.
With the materials requested, my students can use their imagination and let their words soar in journals!
I'm requesting journals , colored pencils and markers (to make our writing pop!), play-dough to help us use hands-on learning for our words, stamps and sand to help with our sight words, a sight word game and erasers to cover up our "happy accidents" (never mistakes).
Your help would ease the worry I have, knowing I can't always accommodate to all my students. The students would be able to add some love and color into their work while building their vocabulary. Your donation would help the students turn into wonderful writers in and out of the classroom
