I teach at a wonderful middle school that has been recognized four times as a "school to watch". This is very remarkable since we live in a high-poverty area, and many of our students have difficulty finding support for musical enrichment outside of our classroom.
My students thrive in a student-centered learning environment where they can discover and learn by using our classroom tools and technology.
We have very little room in our classroom budget for anything but basic music needs and instrument repairs.
My Project
My students need a way to make some noise! With new classroom percussion instruments, our new middle school music curriculum will be rocking! Our 5th grade students are moving into our middle school, but their classroom instruments are staying behind in their former elementary schools.
My students need new classroom percussion instruments to explore rhythm, create accompaniments, and explore through music.
We have a student-centered curriculum that will allow students to create their own musical works and accompaniments. We need these new instruments, and baskets to store them in, to give our students the tools they need to make their own music!
