The students at my campus are bright, kind, and eager to obtain all of the knowledge that they possibly can. They have a variety of interests, including academics, sports, technology, and the arts. My students routinely press to overcome their circumstances in order to achieve their goals and our community could not be more proud of their accomplishments, both in and out of the music room.
For many of my students, my classroom is their first experience with music and they enthusiastically absorb all of my instruction, often begging for more.
A serious music program has made a return to our school after a long absence and our community is very excited about what is in store for our students. The support that we have received at our public performances has been overwhelming and our parents love seeing what their children are capable of accomplishing.
These students are an incredible group of people and I expect that they will grow up to be the exceptional leaders of tomorrow. I look to find them in band halls, choral rehearsals, concert stages, and teaching in private piano studios. I am beyond blessed to have been given charge of their musical education.
My Project
Orff instruments are used almost daily in my music classroom. The instruments that I have selected to replace our aging collection will be used by all students in my school as we learn to read music and use proper playing technique. While I am thrilled that we have gotten so much use out of my current collection, these decades-old instruments have fulfilled their original life expectancy, despite makeshift repairs attempted by several music teachers over the years. Every student will get a chance to experience each new xylophone, metallophone, and glockenspiel multiple times during our lessons in music class.
Placing an instrument in a student's hands helps them make much more secure connections to the material being taught.
This means that students can experience higher musical retention and have the time of their lives at the same time!
By donating to our project, you can provide our students with another tool in their toolbox for becoming musically literate! They will leave elementary school prepared to successfully enter a middle school band or choir program with strong reading skills.
