I have a tremendous group of inquisitive, excited learners! We are a Title 1/High poverty school (76.2%) of almost 500 students.
I really want to encourage them by showing them that reading isn't just another assignment or another piece of homework to trudge through.
I want to show them that reading can be enjoyable and fun!
One of the ways I want to do this is by making it comfortable! A hard plastic chair isn't very conducive to relaxing reading.
I'm trying to make the library a warm, welcoming place, a place of exploration and discovery.
My Project
It's very hard to get comfy in a hard plastic chair. Imagine trying to read a good book that way! I'm asking for these floor cushions to make a soft, cozy reading spot to encourage students to delve into books and encourage reading for fun!
One of the ways I hope to accomplish that is by giving them a comfortable place to read!
They spend most of their day at a desk, and I'd like the library to be different.
I chose these cushions because of their calming colors and easy to clean. My students will use these to sit comfortably on the floor around the library.
