Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! The school we are at is a Title I school in Arizona. We have a fantastic administration, wonderful teammates, and the best students! My students are very hard workers and also know how to have fun. I wouldn't trade them for anything. I love seeing their faces every morning.
My students have a desire to learn.
They always want to know more, learn more, do more, and read more of everything. Our classroom is our own little family.
My Project
Math can be a hard concept for anyone. Most of my students are English Language Learners. Reading and listening are a big part of math, but many of my ELLs will benefit from having manipulative as an additional math resource.
They benefit from manipulatives because they are able to see some of the math skills, without having to read.
Math is a difficult concept to grasp and having a visual representation that is tactile and able to be manipulated brings learning to the next level. It is a fun way for students to learn and helps those who may be struggling. The place value coins and cards help develop the understanding that a number can be different, based on its place value. The Smath game will be a fun way to review the four operations. The Building Math Skills Write and Wipe Boards will help students develop an understanding for what multiplication really is and means.
