This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
In my classroom daily routine in my classroom using direct instruction, partner practice, independent practice, math centers, & small group instruction. I would like the students to reach grade level or above. The biggest challenge is having additional materials to help students move along.
I teach sixth grade math for The School District of Philadelphia.
My students need to be motivated to learn. They need to have a variety of styles of teaching so they do not get bored and also to reach each student's needs. My school is considered a low income school and all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Once you develop their trust and engage them in learning there is not end to there learning.
My Project
I would use the printer to print out supplemental materials and games for the students. I could also print reinforcers and enrichment materials. I would like to use the bins so that I can make math centers that would contain the material I print out. These are bring it to your seat activities. These activities would review topics students are struggling with, topics previously taught, and up coming topics. The folders would hold the individual activities so that they do not get lost or ruined. The different colors would determine which activity they should be doing that day. I have a centers board that would coordinate with the bins and folders. I am moving to a different school within the district this year and I am not sure if they have books for the students to use, as my past school did not. If they do not I would also use the printer to print out their daily lessons.
The donations to my class would give the students the chance to reinforce the skills being taught, help them with struggling lessons, and challenge students who have mastered a skill.
