Help me give my students a tool to help bridge the gap between parts and wholes. The fraction tiles will provide students with a concrete example linking fractions to a whole.

I started as a building math coach in a low poverty Pre-K through 4th grade school building in May of 2018. The students that I work with have diverse backgrounds and cultures. The school is located on the East side of Buffalo, New York. All students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school has a high English Language Learners population with over 20 languages. These students are eager to learn and strive for success in their academic studies, but we do not have the proper resources to help support them. Students are being asked to think critically in their mathematical studies, but due to certain barriers such as language it is difficult at times. Please help make the math coursework accessible to all by providing scaffolds to bridge any and all gaps at an early age.
The NYS math curriculum introduces fractions in 3rd and 4th grade. Fractions are always a difficult skill for students to master. The fraction tiles provide a concrete example. Students find it challenging to partition a whole into fractions abstractly.
The physical manipulation of tangible tiles provides support for students to understand parts and wholes.
Fraction tiles are also a way for students to compare equivalent fractions such as three-fourths and six-eighths. The students will be able to line the tiles up and notice the lengths are the same.
Please consider donating to help these students build a solid foundation of fractions.
