Help me give my students the cutting-edge and professional-level media tools in the Adobe Creative Suite, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and AfterEffects.
I am a middle school art teacher in a New York public school that serves an extremely diverse community of students, many of whom come from underprivileged homes. Most of my students are eligible for two free meals a day and exhibit a wide range of social, emotional, and academic needs.
My students are motivated, bright, creative, and serious about studying art.
They are excited about seeing their interests reflected in classwork. The most interesting thing for me is to see their eagerness to push boundaries and examine conventions.
My Project
Now that my classroom has been generously supplied with a Macbook Pro and an iMac, I'd like to activate these learning tools with the world's best suite of professional-level media editing software: Adobe Creative.
With the Adobe Creative Suite software package, I plan to teach my students photo editing and retouching, video production and editing, graphic design, and more.
I hope to incorporate all these lessons into multimedia, multidisciplinary units that will both challenge and engage all my students.
In addition to being both fun and tough, I can think of no other art classroom content that is as relevant to my students. They exist in a world where this kind of media has an enormous influence and presence in the trajectory of our culture and economy. My goal is for my students to enter the world ready to participate.
