My Students

Kindergarten is where we build foundational skills and grow the students' love for learning. My students are eager to begin to write stories and read books that interest them. They are excited when we work with numbers and create number stories. They are currently working on the key details of a story and then illustrating to show comprehension. It would help them in reaching their literacy goals if they had a variety of fiction and non-fiction books to choose from. The listening station is a great support to help them to reach these goals. Math manipulatives and math games will help them reach their math kindergarten standards. Having an organized classroom helps them to learn as well. They feel safe in our environment and that is very important.

My Project

To help students get creative, I am creating a classroom that includes a variety of tools and supplies that will not put a limit to the students' creativeness. This includes art trays and paint trays to keep our room clean and organized. I want to increase the amount of supplies to keep engagement. These supplies can be incorporated into many lessons not just used for art projects. Art is another way for students to express themselves and with a classroom that has the supplies and tools for the students, I hope to complete more than one art project a week and have them on display in the class.
