My students need reeds to make a sound on their instruments. The percussion students need a trap table to place instruments on when they are playing multiple percussion parts.
I teach sixth, seventh, and eighth grade band classes as well as a jazz band, various small ensembles, and lead our Tri-M music honor society. My band students are passionate and motivated to do well in school. We are a small Title I school with students of all backgrounds. Because of the economy, we receive no funding for our band program but my students continue to thrive and grow musically. My students are eager to learn and want to succeed. We could use any assistance in providing necessary tools and instruments to be successful!
My Project
Many students cannot afford the cost of reeds or their parents are not able to provide reeds until they receive their paycheck. I would like to alleviate the cost of reeds for my students so that they can enjoy creating music without the stress of having to afford the equipment necessary to make a sound. The trap table will help my percussion students when playing multiple percussion parts in their music. Students will be able to mount several instruments on the stand and it will also provide a surface for them to place the instrument on so that the instrument or mallets/sticks will not fall and get damaged.
