Help me give my students the chance to have new opportunities for fitness! It would be great to introduce them to new games and equipment like Spikeball. My younger students would appreciate a soft volleyball when learning!
My students live in a very rural and isolated community in Northern California. Our town/surrounding area has a population of about 300 people. It is also a very low income area where most students get free or reduced lunch. I try and provide new and different opportunities for them—especially when it comes to exercise and fitness. They are geographically isolated from each other (some students live up to 25 miles away from their friends) and usually see each other during the school day. Some students have health challenges due to this isolation because they tend to live a sedentary lifestyle. Our school provides a daily physical education program and I am always looking for new and exciting games and exercises to add to our program.
My Project
Students need to be engaged and have fun while learning sports and doing fitness activities. I would like to make fitness more fun for them by giving them opportunities to learn new things.
The Spikeball game will ensure they have a fabulous time learning a new game.
The soft volleyballs will help make learning this sport more enjoyable because the balls won't hurt. We will use the measuring tape to measure their long jumps, throws, and the distance of their running events in track. I can give them ribbons for their intramural sporting events in P.E. as well.
Students really enjoy playing pickle ball and using the flying discs, but we don't have enough to go around, so I would like to add to what they have so they can all participate.
