My Students
My students start school not knowing what to expect! They are nervous and eager to enter a classroom and see all of the exciting and fun activities that we are going to do over the school year. Every day we sing a song and perform calming exercises to get us ready for the day.
They are dealing with major issues that are still shocking to me as an adult, and are often plagued with hunger and situations that are beyond their ages.
97% of my students receive free or reduced rate lunch and eat in the cafeteria every day. Many of my students have working parents who try their best for their child however, meeting all of their educational needs can be a financial burden.
My Project
As adults we forget how we learned to read and write and what we did that made it stay with us! Fun learning is the key to remembering our letter sounds and names. I would like to make it as fun as possible for my little ones and I can’t imagine it being more exciting than practicing them on a lighted table! With these materials, busy little hands can manipulate the alphabet by playing with letters and other objects as they illuminate in their hands. How exciting to learn a letter that glows! The other materials can bring out the little engineer in them as they build models and construct geometric figures.
