Help me give my students Legos for creative play during indoor recess. Students love to create, and these Lego blocks will allow students to work together or independently.

My Students

My students come to school every day anxious to learn and to be together. Many of them face challenges at home and are being raised by single parents. Our Title I school is located in a high-poverty neighborhood and many students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. Despite these facts, my second graders come to school willing to work hard to learn all they can.

My students are active, curious, and love to be at school.

After last year's hybrid-remote-hybrid school year, they are even more excited to be together with their friends in the classroom. Due to the challenges of the previous school year, this year we are working on academics, as well as social and emotional learning. This learning takes place in the classroom, and on the playground.

My Project

Lego blocks allow students to get creative. When bad weather or cold temperatures mean indoor recess, these blocks will be put to great use. We will also be able to use them to complete STEM projects and support our learning in other subject areas. This large supply will mean we have plenty of blocks for everyone.

Children have wonderful imaginations.

These Lego blocks will give my students an outlet for their ideas. Working with their classmates they will practice valuable social skills including collaborating, sharing, turn-taking and appreciating another's efforts and ideas.
