Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." ~ Dr. Seuss. This quote sums up the goal I have for my students. I have 24 amazing first graders who live in a low-income, high poverty area where they face many challenges in their daily lives, but they love school!
My goal is to instill in each child a love of learning and the belief that they can do anything!
They come to school each day excited and ready to learn. My desire is to provide them a safe and loving environment where they can thrive.
My Project
My students work hard each day. They participate in literacy centers in which they work in small groups to reinforce skills that they have been taught. During this time, students are given the opportunity to achieve mastery on their own level. Each center is differentiated so that each child can work on their own academic level.
My general education and special needs students are in need of additional materials to add to our daily literacy centers so that they can continue to successfully participate in, and increase, their academic achievement.
It is my goal to provide all of my students, regardless of their learning style and learning level, the materials they need to succeed. The addition of these materials will allow all of my students to increase their reading fluency so that they can learn how to become strong readers. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of my first graders.
