The students who take my engineering and robotics classes are apart of a large, urban school and come from many different cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. However, these pieces of their identities do not define them.
The students who take my classes are curious, creative, and in general, they are thinkers.
They come in every day willing to learn and be challenged. They are future engineers and scientists, and I want to help start them off on the right foot.
My Project
As my engineering students learn about electronics, it is important for them to be able to take their knowledge a step further and learn how to solder. In order to do this, they will need soldering irons and soldering kits.
As my students learn how to solder, they will not only be learning a valuable skill through hands on learning, but they are going to need to be constantly asking themselves "why" and "how" are the circuits they are creating actually working and "what" is going on within the wires to make all of this happen.
As my engineering students learn the skills needed to solder, this will work to increase their curiosity and creativity in the STEM fields.
