My Students

I teach at a specialized math and science high school in New York City. Students must take an entrance exam even though it is a public school. The students of my school are so inquisitive, and have such a drive to learn. This is evident when looking at their full schedules and packed after school activities. These are some of the best and brightest students in all of New York City, and they make going to work every day a joy!

My Project

This fall our school Theater Community, the afterschool club that put on three productions each year: the fall musical, winter drama and spring comedy. It has grown at an unprecedented rate. Students are thrilled to be back in the building, interacting with their peer and so are joining new clubs that before would may have been a scary before.

Our costumes crew is made of the students who make most of the costumes by hand for our productions, and their numbers tripled in size this fall!

We simply do not have enough sewing machines to get the underclassmen trained and actively sewing costumes for our productions. It is my hope that I can get a number of new machines funded so that all students that want to learn how to sew can do so and be an active member of the crew.
