My students need the Sphero SPRKs and the STEM Coding Robot Mouse set to learn how to code. They love games and toys, so these are a good fit for my students.
We are a small school, but my fellow teachers and I strive to make sure that our students receive the same education and educational chances that they would get in other schools. We started a S.T.E.M. group a couple years ago, and the kids are loving exploring the new concepts and being challenged with new projects. I want to give them a new challenge.
Learning about computers and coding are vital skills for students today.
There are several stories about the high school student writing a new app, or someone changing their life by learning to code. I want to introduce my students to this skill. They are bright, inventive, and love a challenge, so I think coding is the way to go for them.
My Project
Students are learning skills that I never thought would be possible when I was their age. To me, something like a cell phone or a tablet was straight out of science fiction. But since I have started teaching, there have been so many advances in technology that it is hard to keep up. I want to give my students all the chances possible in this new digital world.
I believe that I may be teaching the next great app-developers or computer engineers.
I want to focus my students imagination and intelligence so that they can accomplish everything that they are capable of. By learning how to code, I feel that the students will be on their way reaching those goals.
My students love games. The Coding Mouse game will give them a solid introduction into the World of Coding. Programming the little mouse to run the courses and complete the mazes is just the challenge that my kids need. The Sphero SPRKs take those skills one step further. Now that they can sequence commands, the Spheros will get them creating their own. And if it doesn't work, they can look back to find their mistakes.
