Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is a family that consists of thirty-eight eager-to-learn Kindergarten students in a Title I school in Houston, Texas in which all of the students receive free lunch.
The majority of my students come from single-parent households in which they struggle to make ends meet, but despite their difficulties, they always come into our classroom with smiles, eager to learn.
I want to provide my students with unique learning experiences in and out of our classroom that they can carry through life.
Many of my students and their families were affected by hurricane Harvey and I am trying to make them feel welcomed and secure in my classroom. I also want them to feel like their world is going back to normal after such a tragic event.
My Project
My students need healthy snacks such as animal crackers, pop tarts, and chewy granola bars to eat during our math workstations.
Our lunch is at 10:27 that by noon my students are extremely hungry and therefore are unable to concentrate on their work.
I want to be able to provide my students with healthy snacks that they can eat during our class.
My students also need classroom supply caddies and paper trays to help keep our supplies organized such as the colors, pencils and glue sticks. The dry erase markers and erasers are going to allow my students to practice daily math routines such as solving the problem of the day and representing a number in different ways on the individual boards. The poster letters are going to be utilized on a math word wall bulletin board for the students to have visuals of the vocabulary.
