120 lovers of learning have just entered first grade, which is a time of extreme academic, social, and emotional growth. My students are transitioning from half-day kindergarten to a full day of learning, which provides many new opportunities for success!
Daily, my students have to make a choice to be kind, to be courageous, to not give up, to learn, and to make the world a better place.
They prepare for these decisions every day when they come into our classroom. Learning these important life skills, enjoying good books, and working together on exciting projects are some of our favorite times of the day.
I want my students to leave first grade being prepared to tackle the world around them, and with the grit to go anywhere and become anything they can imagine!
My Project
Basic classroom supplies are the building blocks of a successful school year. With these supplies, my students will be able to develop and strengthen their understanding of our core curriculum in areas such as writing, reading, and math for the entire year.
Having adequate classroom supplies helps support student engagement and provides them with opportunities to fall in love with the process of learning.
In math, my students will use expo markers on their desk tops to practice concepts and play math games instead of completing worksheets. Pens, pencils, crayons, and markers will be used to help my students take ownership of their writing. They will become real authors as they publish their pieces and share them with our first grade community. Students will use scissors and glue sticks to create projects that require higher level sorting and analyzing skills.
These classroom supplies will help my students develop skills and a passion for learning which will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
