My students need additional pedal bike options and desks to support the style of pedal bikes. We were previously funded for 4 pedal bikes and the students love them!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher, I am proud of each and every student who walks in the door. They may not have had the best experience in previous classes but I give them all I have to help them grow in the math classroom. I know that when we work with students one-on-one they are able to get the help and support they need to feel success no matter how small.
Many of my students struggle to focus in the classroom due to extra responsibilities at home.
They become easily distracted and often these come across as lazy or un-attentive. However, when a teacher takes a closer look they come to realize that our children are taking on adult responsibilities and they really do want to learn. Our students want to develop into the best adult they can and often just need more support from teachers and staff.
My Project
Our students have fallen in love with the possibility of movement in the classroom. We were previously funded for 4 small pedal bikes that fit under a student desk. The students who have used them have been able to focus during independent work however, not everyone has had the opportunity to utilize the limited resources.
Taller students have requested the higher up bikes because they were unable to adjust the tables & desks to meet their needs.
They are excited that we may have the opportunity to add desks to the classrooms flexible seating options.
By engaging their bodies on the bikes, it allows them to focus more on the instruction. It is difficult for anyone to sit in a chair and I believe that this movement will greatly benefit my students. Although this is not traditional exercise, it does increase movement throughout the day to lead to a healthier lifestyle. The bikes also help the students discover what learning styles work for them to develop a healthier sense of self.
