We are an urban setting, Title 1 school in the early years of existence. We put on an annual Disney KIDS production to build a love of music and theater in our students they may not get in other parts of their lives. Our students have many adverse experiences that impact their every day lives, and theater has been an extraordinary outlet for them. For some, being a part of the Disney musical is why they come to school. They work extremely hard both in and out of rehearsal to put on the best show possible!
My Project
We are continuing to build our costume stores by investing in jazz shoes for our Disney productions. These shoes will help our dancers be safe in their choreography and look good at the same time!
While expensive up front, these items will last for many productions, and help alleviate a big budget purchase later on.
Additionally, we are working hard to teach our students about the theater world, and give them a special experience to remember forever. The ability to give every student a pair of jazz shoes to wear during our production will give our students a magical experience, in addition to the safety that these shoes will provide.
