This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from an environment with limited resources and vocabulary. They are interested in everything and are in need of activities that will help them think on their own. Our school is reaching the goal of developing more well-rounded students that are invested in their own education. I feel I can help these students by showing them how to work with others and mentor to peers that are in need of help. We live in a world where basically everything is done for us. We must reach these students by providing them ways to think on their own so they can figure out life.
My Project
When kids have access to current events and information about the world around them, it expands their outlook about what is possible. They develop their identities as readers and explores.
With these colorful subscriptions, my students will be able to find new information and connect to the standards that expands beyond their own lives.
The students will have the option of taking a break from technology or receiving extra support with digital tools that provide needed skills for 21st century learners. Also, Scholastic is a familiar format for parents that are currently helping their students learn from home.
