I am a kindergarten teacher in Henderson, NV. I teach full day kindergarten with 23 children. We have a diverse population, including some English language learners. I am thrilled to see my kindergarten students come to school excited to learn new things and have new experiences. Many of my students begin kindergarten with little or no prior knowledge of letters and their sounds. Headphones will help manage the noise level when the students are online playing games and reading online books. Headphones will will help keep my students engaged so they can learn to important kindergarten standards this year in kindergarten.
My Project
Reading is one of the most important skills a child should learn in kindergarten. Before a child can learn to read, they need to know the letter names and the sounds that each letter makes. It’s also necessary to have a basic understanding of phonics and phonemic awareness skills, as well as a solid sight word foundation. These can be learned by playing online games at centers or using differentiated games on the computer. I need headphones so that will help my students can play online games, read books, and take assessment tests without disrupting the learning of others. Headphones will allow my students to play games online, learning important kindergarten skills, and read books on the computer. This will engage my students and they will learn in a meaningful way. Online games and centers also foster a sense of team work, cooperation, and provide opportunities to talk while problem solving. Using headphones at our computer centers will help my students build independence and increases their level of engagement without disrupting the learning of others.
