My students are typical everyday 5th graders. In this high-poverty area, these students face challenges every day just to get to school to learn. They come from all different types of home environments. They have grown up in a fast-paced society hungry for knowledge.
Our amazing students want to be able to learn without stressing over the small stuff.
I want to be able to provide them with this experience without worrying about whether or not they can afford simple supplies like headphones and pencils. If this project is funded, our classroom will be fully functioning, and the kids will never want to miss a day of school! We are just a small town with a very big heart!
My Project
Our classroom is a fast working station for writing and other language skills. We go through large quantities of pencils, paper and folders on a weekly basis. These materials help keep us organized.
We need pencils, paper, basic folders, and supplies to keep it all together for a productive and organized classroom.
My students struggle with bringing in these basics.
It is very hard to keep up with 82 students. If we were funded, then my stress in the next two 9 weeks over finding materials would be over, and we could focus on the writing and learning aspect of our classroom.
We count on these basic supplies on a daily basis. When the students can't supply them, that leaves me to find ways to purchase what we need.
