My students need books, games and resources to help out with our social studies curriculum. They need these things to help them learn the states and capitals and different facts about them.
My thirty 4th grade students walk into my classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I teach in the Linden Community school district, 15 miles south of Flint, Michigan. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, but you would never know it when it comes to the start of our school day. They are growing and learning in this small rural, tight knit, school community that inspired me to be a teacher. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers...
They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long successful career.
My Project
We would love to have some fun materials to practice numerous social studies skills. Geography and maps are a big skill for 4th grade social studies. I will be using these items to help my students learn states and capitals, as well as where continents are on a map.
These items will be used for fun, but students will be learning at the same time!
My students love hands-on learning and games, and they will be so excited to use these in our classroom.
We will be using the interactive map daily throughout social studies instruction. We will be using the games and books during recess and anytime we need to locate a continent, country or state.
