Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love that my students are at a stage where their creativity and curiosity make them unique. At this age, children need to be exposed to developmentally appropriate tools that help them develop/strengthen their writing skills (fine motor skills). One of the reasons that my scholars are special is because the population of this community is very diverse, and each child brings their culture, values, and beliefs to our classroom: a classroom where every one of us is valued and respected. The tape, construction paper, and other materials of this project will provide opportunities for children to communicate their experiences, thoughts, and dreams through writing/drawings.

Our school community has been learning about "identity" for the past three weeks, and I would like to extend it to the end of the school year.

The unit of study, "identity," is very complex, exciting, and essential for children and also for us (adults). This "Identity" unit of study will help children explore their identities (who they are) and value their uniqueness.
