Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten is full of fun and exciting activities. My students do not have he basic supplies to learn. My students are eager to learn and do exciting work to show their parents what they are learning. Each day in kindergarten we do 10-20 different activities that require basic school supplies.
I teach 20 excited and energetic kindergartners.
They laugh and smile at school, and I fill their day with a child-centered approach full of rich and meaningful play and art experiences. I teach in an urban and disadvantaged area of New Mexico. Sadly, our state legislature has slashed per pupil spending each year, and we have had to turn to citizen philanthropists such as you to ensure we have access to necessary materials. Our school is Title I and serves 100% of our students free breakfast and lunch, and many of my students do not have money for supplies for school or at home to complete homework.
Many of our students are learning English as a second language. They LOVE school and especially find joy in creating art! Thank you for enriching the lives of my students!
My Project
These materials will help my students with counting and recognizing their numbers. This project will help students at all levels. Students who are practicing 1 to 10 or 1 to 20. My students love to be hands on and these materials are perfect for them. My students have shown a high interest in using manipulatives to help them count. With this project I will be able to expand their learning with these manipulative. They will practice using and seeing numbers in different ways. I believe this will help them gain a strong recognition of numbers while having fun doing so.
