My Students

As a sixth grade teacher, I have the opportunity to educate children from a variety of economic and ethnic backgrounds. Though the state of Idaho has an average of 24% minority enrollment, our individual school has 46% minority enrollment, which is 0.61 more than the state average. We are a rural farming community which harbors many migrants and low-income families. Resting upon the border of the Fort Hall Indian Reservation, we service many Native American students as well. With the National Guard Armory in our city and a location between two large Air Force bases, we also have the opportunity to service many military/veteran families.

My Project

A Qball is an innovative new product that helps promote communication and community within the classroom. With a microphone padded on the inside, students can give answers, ask questions, or make comments and pass the ball to another student. I plan to use the Qball for socratic seminar, popcorn reading, question and answer sessions, and interviews.

The Lumens Ladybug Doc Camera will serve as a huge asset to our classroom.

With the doc cam, I can display small items to the entire class, model hands on activities, and show presentations in live format. Both items will be an effective teaching tools.
