My students are active, creative, and inspirational. They love to take charge and lead the school. They work to meet goals and to set a good example for the whole school showing our 3 R's, Show Respect, Act Responsibility, and Be Reasonable. They have a love of learning and literacy that inspires the teachers and administration around them. They work with what they have and make things happen no matter the circumstances. We work day to day with willing learners who enjoy meeting their academic goals. These learners can be quite active and having positive outlets for that energy is always a great area to build on. We have classrooms that are inclusive to all, meaning our special needs and alternative learning style students are in a classroom of their peers all day. This is such a blessing but has its challenges all the same. Students need a way to engage with each other, and with the curriculum, and these 3 Qballs will allow classrooms to engage in new and innovative ways through out the school year no matter the learning environment or standard they are working on.
My Project
These portable, throwable microphones will be perfect for PE, classrooms, and student engagement indoors and outdoors. Just like the Talking Stick, or the Conch, the Qball helps manage classroom discussions. During PE class it can get very loud and make it difficult for students to hear the teacher and one another inside the gym, and outside in our outdoor spaces. These ball shaped microphones will solve many of those hearing difficulties while still allowing for movement and play. Many factors can affect a students ability to hear.
On average, speech must be heard at 15db over ambient noise levels in the classroom.
That’s more than twice what an adult needs! Everything from air conditioning units, to classroom acoustics and layout can impact this. Not to mention those quiet talkers.
Any of our teachers participating in PE, or outdoor activities with their students can use the Qball with blue tooth speakers to easily plug and play anywhere, so they can be used inside and outside the classroom, allowing for more creative lesson planning and more exciting ways to get up and move throughout the day not just in the allotted PE time. For our alternative learners, our special needs students, or any child with attention or sensory issues, these Qballs will be an asset to their learning environment! They will give every student the best chance to hear, be engaged in the conversation, and learn as much as possible! What a fun way of letting out excess energy and working on being fit and healthy physically and mentally for every student in our inclusive classrooms.
I am currently working with grades 2, 3, and 4 and I would like to get one Qball for each grade level. Although sharing one would work, having one for each grade level is ideal.
