My Students

I am a third, fourth, and fifth grade Autism teacher in the Panhandle of Florida. I have a class of exceptional education (special education) students. I teach in a Title I public school that services mostly low-income families. I teach a class of 14 students with varying levels of Autism, and I teach every subject area.

My students are inquisitive and eager to learn new things.

They love hands-on activities and they love LEGO and robots. My students may be delayed academically, but they make for it in so many other ways. They are always trying to help one another, as well as, other students on our school campus. They are fearless and are willing to try anything. My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!

My Project

I am requesting an AeroGarden Farm kit with salad bar. My students will be learning about hydroponics and gardening. They will learn to plant and harvest the crops, as well as maintaining the garden's hydroponic system.

Each student will be able to bring the crops home with them to feed their families and friends.

We will be planting a variety of fruits, vegetable, and flowers throughout the school year. With each student being responsible for their growth, maintenance, and harvest.

My students have Autism and this is a wonderful, hands-on opportunity for them to learn about hydroponics and food growth.
