Here at EMS we are mixed with ambitious, curious and a strong desired students. We are in a low income area and having the resources we need becomes difficult at times. The students are eager to explore the world of gardening, sustainability and farm-to-kitchen education. Between lunch time and our after school Power Hour club students get to be creative and explore what we have to offer.
My students are extremely creative and strive with the resources they have available.
It would be nice to broaden their scope and provide them with the endless possibilities in-store.
East and North sides of Binghamton are in a food desert. We are limited to the amount of fresh foods and ample grocery stores. Allowing my students to explore the wonderful world of food through gardening can provide them with the lifelong skills they need.
Providing food for yourself is such a great feeling.
Knowing how and what to do in the garden is something you don't forget. I want my students to be proud of their garden and the work they are going to put into this project. Watching something come alive from nothing is a learning experience in itself.
