My Students
My students work very hard. They study half the day in English and half the day in Spanish in a dual-language program in the Seattle area. I have fifty-three students between my two groups. They will appreciate our upgraded classroom library.
These sixth graders bring energy and authenticity to school every day.
I appreciate the opportunity to work with them, and look forward to going to work every day. It is inspiring and humbling to see what students can do when they focus their energy and engage in their learning.
My Project
This class set of The Land of Stories will allow our students to read a fantasy novel in Spanish. We study fantasy as a genre, but need a class set of books for students to read at their own pace. We will share this set among two groups.
The topic, style and humor of The Land of Stories will keep my students engaged.
This book will inspire them to relax and enjoy the writing process as we complement our reading unit with a fantasy writing project. This book is age appropriate as it bridges the worlds between that of young children and that of adolescents.
