Our learning home is a wonderful Kindergarten through 8th-grade school that links the real world to what we learn in the classroom. We reach out into the community with our students to build bridges of understanding and compassion.
Our student population is diverse in economic level, race, and family composition but what is more important is what we have in common.
Our students are all problem solvers and participants and thinkers of their world. They are looking for ways to make their world better. Our students are compassionate and empathetic, but what sets them apart is that they understand that the world is interconnected and we are part of something so much bigger.
My Project
Our school has no real playground. We have a lovely field right by a highway but the kids are not running and playing the way they should. We need a fence so they see the visual boundary between the field and the road, but we also need play equipment to play any organized game. We have none and it is sad to see the negative impact of that. The students just sit around.
The "Let's Go Play" project is focused on getting kids moving and imagination flowing.
Recess should be a fond memory or friendship and sportsmanship, not boredom. The students will be able to break up into groups and play as well as learn organized sports. they will come back in the building ready to focus and learn.
