My students need more hands-on science experiences, they need to understand that through science, we can learn how to take care of our earth.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our Earth's future is in our students' hands, and our low socioeconomic area should not be the excuse to leave West Gate students out of hands-on science.
My students are in kindergarten and they attend a Florida title 1 school.
The percentage of the free and reduced lunch is very high and the majority of students are from low income families. The primary language usually is Spanish and the amount of scientific experiences are usually limited to what occurs in the classroom.
My Project
Providing the resources to focus on the development of the child as a whole will allow the students that are very interested in science to begin planting in our garden, learn about protecting our environment and explore what lives in it. The science kits, planting kits, insects and plants slides will support the scientific environment we are enhancing!
Kindergarten is a time for children to expand their love of learning, their general knowledge, their ability to get along with others, and their interest in reaching out to the world.
